Shep, you have to run with this - you're onto something. For example, in boasting of the number of magazines "supplied without charge...distributed gratis" what was the quantity distributed containing "offensive | prejudiced | intolerant" content? How does the UK Charity Commission feel about the distribution (free or otherwise) of the following magazine content:

Outright homophobia
Gender discrimination
Religious hatred

It would be an interesting project to catalogue examples of such material, and then extrapolate (from their own figures of 14,836,474 copies of The Watchtower and Awake!) the likely number of copies containing homophobia | gender-isms | religious hatred.

Am I thinking too simplistically?

Future plans The Charity will continue to carry out a major project to build facilities in Chelmsford for IBSA. Once completed the Charity will also relocate and share part of these facilities. Over the next 2 years the project is expected to incur a further £75 million of costs, all of which will eventually be covered by IBSA.

Hi StarTrekAngel. VoIP: you're right, from the video alone you can only see that they use Polycom and that the touch codes are standard Asterisk - but that could be another VoIP platform - it's impossible to be certain from just watching the video.

I can only speak from my personal experience. Uupon visiting London Bethel I was able to take a look at (1) the server room [yes, a "friend" who worked there showed me into the inner sanctum] and (2) the VoIP handsets in the guest apartment where I stayed. It's Asterisk.

If you want to verify this then simply sign up to a free VoIP service (such as SipGate) and dial the London HQ on +44 (0) 208 906 2211, whilst tracing the call using WireShark. All the info is in the IP packet headers. Of course, it is possible that the London Bethel has not yet migrated over.

The senior brother interviewed about "how easy and quick it is to lookup data" - well, welcome to Microsoft's online cloud (which is what they are using). Apparently, even though Microsoft think that the millions of businesses that pay for the services are the reason why they provide it, it's actually Almighty God who has maneuvered Microsoft to this point...and purely to serve one client (Watchtower). "Only Jehovah could accomplish this!"

Oh, and the phone system "we built ourselves"? It's built on Asterisk - a community open source project; no divine beings were involved in it's design - most organizations at least given credit to the open source project, instead of claiming "they" made it. Yet the brother seriously stands in front of a painting of some angels and hints that they might be used to call us?

Part 1 at 01:57 mins. - "distributing video files...has proven to be a FINANCIAL CHALLENGE..." Are we seeing a pattern here? Most of the changes taking place across Watchtower are admitted to be due to "financial" reasons, yet the version of the story spun to the publishers in the sanitised videos shown at the Kingdom Halls and on JW Broadcasting is that all of these changes are "Jehovah's direction". Yet, in the UK they persist with building an office and a few residence blocks for "video editing" that in their own published accounts (IBSA + Watchtower UK) they predict another £75 million will be required to finish the project. Who's steering this chariot?

Watchtower finances have forced layoffs, cut-backs and down-sizing across all departments. In an effort to reduce costs of Circuit Overseers, one CO is called into Bethel to test-drive the “Mini-Me” – Watchtowers latest answer to vehicle costs. The new, smaller sized vehicle is specifically adapted to the new reduced-size Bethel being constructed in Chelmsford. In a leaked letter “To All Circuit Overseers” they are told that there will be a choice of 2 models: engine powered, and feet powered (via a hole in the floor). Any COs with wives are advised to strap them to the roof, or make them walk behind.

Come and work for one day? Travel at you own (considerable) expense, stay overnight at an expensive hotel, arrive early on site and put in a 10 hour day. Stay overnight again, at your own expense. Travel back home, at your own expense.

When you return home, ask your bank for a loan to cover the week's secular work that you missed in order to put in "one day" at the Bethel project.

Watch more JW videos about giving more donations. Attend the regional convention and puzzle at the spiralling "costs" (Watchtower per person stealth tithe)...ditto that at the next circuit assembly. Listen to the prompts to donate more by the CO in his visits. Donate, donate, donate, give 'till you bleed dry.

Now ask yourself, how much money does the gambler put into the machine before he has a lucid moment and realizes it's better to "cut your loses" and get a real life?
